The 2008 Track and Field Season will soon be upon us. The athletes who compete in the four leagues are reliant upon volunteers coming forward to run the events. There is a small group of graded Technical Officials attached to Preston Harriers who regularly officiate at matches, but volunteers are also required to cover the large number of events at most matches.
Technical Officials and volunteers are required in order that events can be run safely and within the rules. Volunteers do not need to have any experience and will of course be given support and training at the events. In addition the volunteers will gain valuable points for the Club at matches and hopefully enjoy being part of the team.
Many of you will be attending the track and field events to support your own family members and if you are willing to become a volunteer we would like to hear from you. The dates and venues for the 2008 meeting are listed in the calendar.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Andy Parker,
by email at: andy.parker@blueyonder.co.uk
or by post at: 47 Glenluce Drive, Farringdon Park, Preston PR1 5TD

A bright sunny day with increasingly warm conditions greeted runners for the Asics Wilmslow Half Marathon last Sunday (30th March.)
The race itself is well organised, has never attempted to build on its popularity by allowing more runners than its 4,000 limit and is well supported by the local community. It is a real favourite for those who have an early Spring marathon planned and the course is a fast one too.
